Anyone who has frequented Amsterdam’s nightlife over the last decade has likely stumbled upon San Proper at some point. And anyone who has met this colorful character agrees: San is driven by a fiery passion for music and an innate predisposition for eccentricity. He’s the type of person you’ll find playing a marathon set at a hazy after hours, where all that’s left of the soundsystem is one working record player and two crackling speakers. Putting on one dusty gem after another without mixing, he’ll be grasping your arm repeatedly, pointing at the ramshackle stereo system: “This is my favorite record of all time!” And even though he’ll probably claim the same about every other piece of vinyl that he spins, you know he’s completely sincere about it each and every time.

Geen kaartje voor Lowlands? Gelukkig zijn er nog tal van andere festivals in de wereld. Resident Advisor maakte een top tien van festivals in augustus. Op nummer 1 staat het Freerotation festival. Freerotation vind plaats van 14 t/m 16 augustus in Wales (Engeland). Op dit festival o.a. Marcel Dettmann, Shackleton, Efdemin, Move D, SoulPhiction en Peverelist.

Vandaag publiceerde Resident Advisor een groot artikel over ‘Clubbing in Amsterdam’, geschreven door onze eigen Aron Friedman! In het artikel gaat Aron een weekend op stappen in de toonaangevende clubs van Amsterdam. Zo kwamen ze ook op klinch bij Amsterdam 661. Verder een interview met de programmeurs van Studio 80, Trouw en Melkweg over het nachtelijke klimaat in de Nederlandse hoofdstad.
